This course is designed to be completed on your time scale. You can take it in phases or sections and pay as you go. Learn how to work with the courts in your state and county. Gain experience actually doing the same work as you would if you had a job. Practice projects will be sent during each phase to you as well as an open-book quiz at the end of the completion of each chapter. You will be able to study a book and practice preparing court documents. Learn how to work on a case that is filed in the court from start to finish. Learn exactly what you need to know in order to get a job. You also will learn how to calendar court deadlines as part of the practice projects. You will be able to work on an actual case.
Section I - Includes Textbook Used for Entire Course
Receive your book on how to work on a case from start to finish. Start reading Chapter 1 on the basic information. What is jurisdiction. Who are the parties to a lawsuit. What are the documents called that are filed with the court. What are basic deadlines. How do you calendar deadlines. You will be sent a practice project as well as an open-book quiz once you email that you’ve read Chapter 1. Complete this section in 30 days or less- $75 which includes the book. When you order Section I you receive the book in order to start this course.
Section II - Starting the Lawsuit
Read Chapter 2 on how the plaintiff starts the lawsuit. Learn about the Summons and Complaint. What do they look like. Practice typing them as one of the projects. How do you calendar the deadline? What deadline do you have to put on the calendar to remember? You will receive a calendar that will assist you in these calendaring projects along with the book upon ordering Section I. Take the open-book quiz when you are done with Chapter 2. Multiple practice projects will be e-mailed to you while you complete this Section. Complete this section in 30 days or less - $59.
Section III - Defending the Lawsuit and More!
Read Chapters 3 and 4 on how the defendant responds to the plaintiff in the lawsuit. What is the name of the document the defendant must serve and file at this stage of the lawsuit? Learn how to type these documents. How do you calculate the deadlines? How do you put them on the calendar? What is an Answer? What is a counterclaim, cross-claim, third-party claim or affirmative defense? Take the open-book quiz when you are done with Chapters 3 and 4. Multiple practice projects will be e-mailed to you while you complete this Section. Complete this section in 30 days or less - $59.
Section IV - Discovery Phase of the Lawsuit
Read Chapter 5 on the discovery phase of a lawsuit. How does the plaintiff get information from the defendant. How does the defendant get information from the plaintiff. What are depositions, interrogatories, requests for production of documents, requests for admissions and examinations? What if you want to take a deposition and have it videotaped? What is a court reporter. Learn how to calendar the appropriate deadlines for all these discovery methods. Take the open-book quiz when you are done with Chapter 5. Multiple practice projects will be e-mailed to you while you complete this Section. Complete this section in 30 days or less - $59.
Section V - How to Resolve Problems by Filing a Motion with the Judge
Read Chapter 6 on the motion process. Learn what attorneys do when there is a problem with a case and they need an issue decided by a Judge. The attorneys must file what is called a “motion.” This is a very important process which takes place many times over during the course of the case. What does it mean to say “moving party” or “opposition party” and what are the deadlines for motions in your court. Take the open-book quiz when you are done with Chapter 6. Multiple practice projects will be e-mailed to you while you complete this Section. Complete this section in 30 days or less - $59.
Section VI - Pretrial and Trial
Read Chapters 7 and 8 on pretrial and trial procedures. Learn the chronology of a trial from start to finish. What does the attorney need to do to prepare? What do the staff need to do to help? Learn how to prepare a trial brief. Learn what voir dire is and how the jury is questioned prior to the trial starting. Learn about motions during trial. What role does the Judge have in terms of evidence during the trial? There are multiple practice projects associated with this chapter which will be e-mailed to you. Take the open-book quiz when you are done reading it. Complete this section in 30 days or less - $59.

If you complete all sections, you will receive an e-mail with an attachment on how to write your resume and other suggestions to help get a job. This includes bringing in your completed tests and book to the interview and showing your Certificate of Completion to any perspective employer.
